To install this ROM, some pre-requisites to be followed are:

  • Taking the back-up: You can take the back up of only the apps using Astro File Manager or Titanium Backup (Root Users) which are freely available in the android market.
  • Also, to take up the backup of sms and call logs you may use SMS Backup+ which again is freely available in android market. It syncs your call logs and sms as labels to your gmail account.
  • Root users can make a nandroid backup using the Clockworkmod Recovery App.

Now, for the Installation of ICS333, the following downloads must be made and copied to the root folder of the phone (On the Internal SD Card):

Make sure the the device has 100% battery so that, there aren’t any problems during the flashing

To avoid any flashing problems, I would recommend you to be on Android 2.3.6

Now, to flash this ROM, it is necessary that your current ROM is a rooted one.  If not, then please head here to install Android 2.3.6 and root it from here. Then, you may continue installing ICS333 by doing the following: To enter into recovery mode one needs to press the three button combo:

  1. Get into Recovery Mode
  2. Clean Cache and do Factory reset by selecting the wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition options. Also, get into the advanced section and use the Wipe Dalvik Cache too.
  3. Install ROM from sdcard. For this enter into the recovery, move to install zip from sdcard using the Volume Up/Down Keys, and click on the Home key to enter. Then select choose zip from sdcard and in the next screen navigate to the ROM file (ICS333-2.0.1-signed.zip in this case) and select it.
  4. In case you get into a boot loop, please execute Step No. 2 & 3 again.
  5. Once this is done, again get into recovery, move to install zip from sdcard using the Volume Up/Down Keys, and click on the Home key to enter. Then select choose zip from sdcard and in the next screen navigate to the gapps zip file and install it.

WARNING: THIS ROM IS IN ITS DEVELOPMENT STAGE AND MAY NOT BE FULLY FUNCTIONAL. SO THERE ARE ALL THE CHANCES OF HAVING INSTANCES WHEN WIFI/DATA DOESN’T WORK. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS ISSUE FIRST AND THEN INSTALL THE ROM.

If you have actually read and tried all these instructions and are still stuck PLEASE POST YOUR PROBLEMS IN IN THE COMMENTS SECTION AND THEY WILL GET ADDRESSED ASAP.

  1. I have installed this ROM. will let you know.
Btw… just noticd that when i dial ‘000117’ for AT&T calling card it automatically gets edited as ‘00117’. I tried storing it in contacts and even there it gets edited to ‘001’ instead of ‘0001’. Can u fix this asap plz?

  2. hi
I’ve installed this and it looks good. No issues and everything seems to work ok. Many thanks.
    A question please:
I was on xxjw4. I took a nandroid backup before I installed ics333. When I had ics333 fully set up, I took a nandroid backup of that also. So can I switch between these two roms just by restoring the appropriate backup?i.e from ics333 go into recovery and restore the xxjw4 backup, and from xxjw4 go into recovery and restore the ics333 backup?
    thanks again
    ed

    • well here your are talking about switching between an ICS ROM and a GB ROM… Since both the ROMs have different partitioning, when you plan to move from ICS to GB you’ll have to use ODIN to first flash stock GB, root it and then flash the backup from recovery.
But for transition from GB to ICS.. you can do it straight away by flashing the backup itself from recovery (if your phone is rooted already) else root and then flash the backup

  4. I have updated my cell to ICS 333-2.0.1. and i express my sincere gratitude for all the developers who hav given their best to improvise on the performance. However, I noticed my front camera doesnt work while doing video calling. Can someone help me to fix up this minor bug. Thanks in advance

    • Hi, I’m not really sure what is the issue with the front camera because, I’d myself tested the ROM a while back and frankly, I’m in no mood of checking it out again 😛 Anyways, can you elaborate on the issue, as in do you get “Force Close” or some particular error? Did you try using the front camera on Skype or Gtalk?

  5. Hi फणसे,

I installed ICS333 but I get the following error every now and then –
“Unfortunately the process android.process.media has stopped.”
Due to above error frequent recorrurence I couldnt use camera and other apps and also couldnt download a single software from google playstore. Every download from playstore ended up in error 491.
What is the cause of this error or is it a bug?
    How to overcome this error?
Despite of installing gapps.zip I couldnt see google applications like google map & google mail installed on my SGS GT-I9000. What are the apps gapps.zip containing?
Whether to proceed ior not with installation of CyanogenMOD 10 with erroneous installation of ICS333?

    • Hi,

Just goto the recovery, wipe everything and fix permissions. That should do the trick. Plus, for the market downloads, you’ll need to connect to the play store for the first time via Mobile DATA then you can use wifi to continue downloads.
The Maps, Gmail and You Tube apps are not included the in the gapps package. You need to download the same from the Play Store itself.

      • Hi there,
Mr. फणसे, very many thanks to respond with solution, Sorry to have you fast sleep disturbed. Actually I got solution before you woke up. You are requested not to keep novice users, like I, waiting for long to have solution to their issues as your expert advice.
For your kind information, you virtually got married to this blog site out of your own wish to have children( novice users) who keep troubling you with their frequent reasonable or unreasonable demands.
Now, you think to decide about how you must deal with your children and their demands. Don’t take this serious joke seriously, lol.
        Take extra good care….
Thanks for taking pains to keep your children happy.
        DasaAnudas.
